Medicinal plants have attracted increased attention because of their beneficial effects on
human health. Many medicinal plants have been used as traditional medicine in various
countries for a long time. Various medicinal plants have discovered many secondary
metabolites with various biological activities, and some bioactive substances derived from
plants have diverse functional roles as secondary metabolites. These properties can be
applied to the development of novel pharmaceuticals. Chemical studies help to underline
the presence of various classes of compounds.
Here, a multi-chambered unit is designed to study the chemical properties and identify
alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, steroids, saponins, and phenolics in the
plant here for extraction and Phytochemical analysis of the plant. The unit has a unit to
initially perform the drying and conversion of the plant into powdered form to prepare the
extract. In the other unit, a phytochemical study with color reactions is done to identify the
presence of alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, steroids, saponins,
phenolics, fats, and sugar. It has a setup for Chromatography (TLC) analysis using a scanner.
This chamber will help to provide us directly with a Phytochemical analysis of any medicinal
herb and display it on the screen attached to the chamber.
